Setting the scene: 9:58 in the morning.. archery starts at 10. mae is having a no plug, wash and go kind of bath, chloe is ready standing by the door, cupcakes made and ready to celebrate our last class.
Me: Mae we really have to hurry, so I'm going to wash you really fast and you go and get dressed. (in a sweet voice)
Mae: ------
Me: Mae did you hear mama.. we have to get out of the bath, we are late! (she's washed and ready to get out)
Mae: ------ (playing with the water)
Me: (in a louder voice) Hello mae are you there?
Mae: ---------
Me: (taking mae out of the bath yelling) Do you understand what I mean when we are in a hurry? We are late!
Mae: well It would have helped me if you would have gotten me bath toys!
Me: WHAT? :)

chicken coop
The frame is made out of old ikea bed slats, scrap wood around the house and flooring from the old landing. We made the front of the coop out of an old window.
the sides are constructed out of 4 salvaged picket fences
and of course a little help from mae...
and voila! All it needs now is a roof and chicken wire! Then the little chicks can move in!

cherry picking
We went cherry picking in leona valley this weekend. It was fun even in the 93 degrees heat! We learned that when you pick the fruit, you leave the stem on the tree so fruit will grow again the next year. By the end of our picking we had picked 9lbs of cherries totaling $27. Now what to do with all of those cherries... maybe some jam!
