easter (spring)

Super fun day! This year Chloe wanted us to hide her eggs a little harder and to make a map to find them. It proved to be a lot of fun. Mae's egg hunt came to a complete stop when she found this little slug on one of her eggs. She carried it with her for the rest of her hunt.
Fun day indeed! Happy Spring!!

weekend

This weekend was filled with forts, nerf guns, lemons, reading, balloon car races and the 1950's. The weekend started with building a fort in the lemon tree. The one requirement from the kids was to have an opening that could be separated dramatically. During the fort making process we decided our poor lemon tree needed to be harvested which sparked the idea for Chloe to sell the lemons on the front lawn. She decided to sell them for 25 cents each. She wanted to make lemonade as well but we didn't have paper cups so she improvised by putting a straw straight in the lemon. I was highly skeptical of this decision but it proved to be her best seller. She had the neighborhood kids, Luke and Mae hold signs up when cars past by. During their breaks they had nerf gun fights. She made an impressive $3.50! The 1950's came up with an idea Chloe had about making a time capsule, which led to wanting to learn about when our sweet grannies were born. We went to the library to get some books on the 50's and 60's. We had this amazing conversation about life and the big changes that accord during that time. I was happily surprised by how much she wanted to know. We decided to make a questionnaire for the grannies to fill out to help learn about what it was like to be kid at that time. To get a visual idea of life during that time we watched one of my favorite movies Corrina Corrina. I love these unschooling moments, when you can breath easy knowing you're doing the right thing. Hope your weekend was just as good! Oh yeah.. baby gossie is now laying!!

rainbow carpet

Check out this awesome rainbow carpet! We went to a rollerskating party this past Saturday. The girls were so excited to try it out. Their excitement was running high when we arrived, picked up the skates, laced them up and practiced on the cool carpet. Chloe's first attempt around the rink was a success, second just as good. She was making her way back to the snack area to take a break and fell pretty hard. After that she was done. Mae went twice around the rink then she was done. It made me think how long it took me to learn to skate. I remember many falls, blisters and carpet burns, but I still had a blast. Overall they had a good time. So did we!

for Rachel

Hello Rachel! We got our box yesterday. Of course when Mae saw all of the beads she had to try them all on. Later she made faces out of them. One is a lady and one is bear. I showed the girls your wonderful map you made of New Orleans and they were so inspired they decided to make maps of their own. They had the idea of making a fairy tale map. It's a little hard to see because of the pencil on newsprint. Mae has included the three little pigs and their houses, mushrooms and the palm tree where the fairies live. Chloe crumbled hers to make it look old.  She went on to make  a pirate map with holes and burn marks! So thank you for our surprises and inspiring them to make such wonderful maps. Oh and I love love love the avon powder jar! I forgot to take a photo of it in it's new home in the bathroom! Can't wait to see you guys!

solvang

bugga's favorite store!  The store owners took everything a 13 year old girl loves and combined it into one store. Yarn, crafts, pretty colors, and miniatures.
She didn't want to leave, she said she wants her room to look like that store.
