weekend

This weekend was filled with forts, nerf guns, lemons, reading, balloon car races and the 1950's. The weekend started with building a fort in the lemon tree. The one requirement from the kids was to have an opening that could be separated dramatically. During the fort making process we decided our poor lemon tree needed to be harvested which sparked the idea for Chloe to sell the lemons on the front lawn. She decided to sell them for 25 cents each. She wanted to make lemonade as well but we didn't have paper cups so she improvised by putting a straw straight in the lemon. I was highly skeptical of this decision but it proved to be her best seller. She had the neighborhood kids, Luke and Mae hold signs up when cars past by. During their breaks they had nerf gun fights. She made an impressive $3.50! The 1950's came up with an idea Chloe had about making a time capsule, which led to wanting to learn about when our sweet grannies were born. We went to the library to get some books on the 50's and 60's. We had this amazing conversation about life and the big changes that accord during that time. I was happily surprised by how much she wanted to know. We decided to make a questionnaire for the grannies to fill out to help learn about what it was like to be kid at that time. To get a visual idea of life during that time we watched one of my favorite movies Corrina Corrina. I love these unschooling moments, when you can breath easy knowing you're doing the right thing. Hope your weekend was just as good! Oh yeah.. baby gossie is now laying!!
